GROWTH

Growth is a strategy, not a tactic

More marketing activity does not automatically create more growth.

The instinct to add activity

When growth slows, businesses often respond by increasing advertising, opening channels, hiring salespeople or launching campaigns.

Those actions may be useful, but they can also amplify a deeper strategic problem if the market, positioning, customer value, economics or retention model is weak.

Growth is a connected system

Sustainable growth connects market opportunity, customer choice, positioning, acquisition, conversion, retention and expansion.

A weakness in one part of that system changes the economics of everything around it. That is why isolated tactics often produce temporary improvement rather than durable growth.

Choose the lever before increasing spend

The strategic task is to locate the highest-value constraint. Sometimes that is acquisition. Sometimes it is product-market fit, positioning, conversion, pricing or retention.

Only after the constraint is clear should leadership decide where additional investment belongs.
